Emily Anderson (she/her/hers) is a limited licensed social worker in the state of Michigan, who practices under the supervision of Rise co-director, Jen Burke, LMSW. Emily graduated with her Masters in Social Work from Utah Valley University.
Emily has clinical training and experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. She has worked with clients through faith transitions, anxiety, depression, couple's issues, LGBTQ+ issues, pregnancy and postpartum concerns, sexuality and sex, women’s issues, OCD, and trauma. Emily is trained in EMDR and has also attended trainings pertaining to a variety of clinical concerns, including sex therapy, postpartum/birth trauma, racial literacy, trauma, and LGBTQ+ support. In addition, Emily was a member of LGBTQ+ Affirmative Therapists Guild of Utah from 2021-2023, was certified in Rape Crisis Advocacy and Hospital Response through the Utah Domestic VIolence Coalition, and has presented twice on issues related to Postpartum PTSD and Postpartum Depression.
Emily believes that her clients are the experts in themselves, and she strives to aid clients in recognizing unhelpful thinking patterns, honoring client strengths, cultivating resilience, and practicing coping skills. She works collaboratively with clients to develop a treatment plan that meets client’s needs, and she prioritizes creating an empathetic, warm, and safe space that will allow clients to laugh easily, feel emotions deeply, and practice vulnerability.
